Over training

I’ve learned that it is a lot easier to over train on a tacx than one would think. I’ve learned that when you over train you easily get ill. I’ve learned all this between Sunday evening and today.

Life got in the way.

To say that I stopped training for a few months wouldn’t be entirely correct but it also wouldn’t be entirely incorrect. I’ve been training so little that in my world it’s like not training at all. I’d like to cycle about 10 hours a week but I’ve only managed to cycle about 1 - 3 hours a week for the last few months.

Last night I had a GREAT session on the tacx. I did 55 minutes but the way I structured it was really hectic. I did 10 minutes warm-up (HR below 130). Then I started with 5 times 1 minute standing 1 minute sitting with the resistance 33% higher when I was standing than when I’m sitting. Then I did 5 times 30 seconds standing and 1 and a half minutes sitting this time with the resistance 50% higher when standing than when I was sitting. Then I did 4 times minute and a half standing and 30 seconds sitting with the resistance 16% higher when I was standing than when I was sitting. I actually aimed at 5 times but I was close to dead at that point. My heart rate was at a continues 180+ for about 15 minutes. To bring a close to this beautiful session I decided to try 5 times 15 seconds at 100% resistance standing up with 1 minute and 45 seconds in between. This didn’t work very well. The rest was to long and my legs were so tired at that point that I couldn’t sprint for more than about 3 seconds. I did 3 of the 5 before I decided to warm-down. I lost about 2kg of liquid in the session so today I’m drinking a lot of water.
